Step Daddy is a hard hitting, tongue-firmly in cheek progressive hardcore/rock band from Seattle inspired by the likes of Tomahawk, Clutch and Mastodon. Expect raspy, sarcastic vocals, dissonant guitars that remind the listener of hardcore icons Botch, and a pummelling rhythm section. Their new album “Love” was released August 1, 2012 and is available at www.stepdaddyband.com.
Americana/Blues Rock artist Doug Prescott is back with his new live album “Hot Night in November” to follow up the success of last year’s full-length debut “The Journey & the Deep Blue Sea”. Going under the moniker Doug Prescott Band, there are some impressive musicians on the disc, including genre veterans Allyn Love and Tony Bowman. Purists will be upset by the genre-hopping, but that’s just par for the course for Prescott, who dabbles with rock, r&b, funk, blues, country and roots music. One Way State is “straight-shooting, sensible prairie power to scratch that musical itch you didn’t know you had.” Their new album “The Right Time” has earned them a ton of press across Canada, and it’s no wonder. Their sound is polished rock with smart pop song structures and absorbing melodies. The band are extensively touring Canada in support of the release, and should find their way to the U.S soon.
